Transforming Our Home: Kitchen and Bathroom Renovation Journey

My husband and I purchased a new home in April of 2023, and we spent the next nine months renovating it to make it our own. This was one of the largest projects to date that I have had the honor to work on.

The first thing we did was demo all of the existing flooring, cabinetry, and lighting throughout the house. Updating the kitchen was at the top of our priority list.

The kitchen was a very small U shaped kitchen that was dated with Oak cabinets and tan, granite countertops. In our family, we host large groups from church often so we really wanted a space that would allow us to gather and cook with friends.

We pushed out the peninsula several feet to make room for a center island. I found this wonderful company in California called, Vintage Mill Werks who made it custom for us.

White quartz countertops paired with marble subway tiles create a timeless look as well as the open shelves with brass gallery rails add to the cottage feel.

For those who love to cook, a pot filler is a real treat!

The kitchen, dining and family room are combined into a large shared space. Here are some photos of the living room before:

When we made the decision to make the kitchen larger, naturally that meant the living room was made a bit smaller. But since we don’t spend a lot of time in this room, it was worth it to our family.
